Transformation is a dynamic painting depicting Chief Mike Maquinna of the Mowachaht Muchalaht and Luna an orphaned orca who chose to live
in the waters off Gold River after being separated from his pod in 2001.
The Mowachaht Muchalaht First Nations band members believe Luna embodied the spirit of their late Chief Ambrose Maquinna, father of Chief Mike Maquinna. This story is familiar to many as it made national headlines. Christopher Walker created this painting with the personal help of Chief Michael Maquinna, Mike Parfit, Dr. Paul Spong and
Ellen Hartlmeier.
A percentage of sales will be donated to various whale research organizations including Orca Lab and educational programs for the Mowachaht Muchalaht First Nations.
